The Daily Dividend 5/12/25
Good morning and I hope you had an enjoyable weekend!
There’s been quite a bit of investment news over the past few days. And today’s dispatch includes a niche retailer’s dividend announcement, an overlooked appliance maker’s 7th consecutive year of steady dividend growth, and an excuse for me to share my extremely dorky hobby with you.
Natural Grocers by Vitamin Cottage, Inc. ($NGVC) Declares $0.12 Dividend
I’m a sucker for companies with weird and clunky names. So when Natural Grocers by Vitamin Cottage, Inc. crossed my desk, I knew I had to cover it.
Natural Grocers by Vitamin Cottage, Inc. operates the Natural Grocers health food chain, a franchise that prides itself on “Selling only natural & organic products meeting our strict quality standards.”
The company runs 169 stores in 21 states and has been in business since 1955.
Last week, Natural Grocers by Vitamin Cottage, Inc. declared a $0.12/share quarterly dividend, in-line with the previous distribution.
Ex-dividend date: 5/27/2025
Payout date: 6/11/2025
Forward starting dividend yield: 1.05%
Hamilton Beach Brands ($HBB) Raises Quarterly Dividend By 4.3%
There’s a good chance you use or own at least one Hamilton Beach Brands product. This household appliance maker produces a wide range of products including: coffee makers, toasters, blenders, slow cookers, and bread machines.
Hamilton Beach Brands is also a dividend growth stock.
The company has paid, and raised, a quarterly dividend every year since 2018.
And, Hamilton Beach Brands recently hiked their dividend by 4.3%.
The company now pays a new quarterly dividend of $0.12/share.
Ex-dividend date: 5/30/2025
Payout date: 6/13/2025
Forward starting dividend yield: 3.16%
Lockheed Martin ($LMT) Declares $3.30 Dividend
Alright, so there’s this book called Scarecrow: A Shane Schofield Thriller, by Matthew Reilly, and like most of Reilly’s books, it’s the gold standard for action adventure novels. Anyway, there’s a sequence where protagonist Shane Schofield most race to Yemen to stop a secret society from launching a nuclear missile and triggering World War Three.
To get to Yemen, Schofield flies the experimental X-15, a hypersonic rocket-powered aircraft that’s often considered the fastest plane ever created.
There’s a huge dogfight with hundreds of enemy fighter planes vs Schofield and the U.S. Airforce, and it’s a big action set piece that showcases all sorts of cool military tech.
Reading that book perked my interest in military aircraft and I’ve developed a new hobby: visiting aviation museums.
I bring this up because Lockheed Martin has developed a ton of cool and interesting airplanes over the years. From stealth fighters to suborbital spaceplanes, Lockheed Martin’s covert “Skunk Works” department has always pushed the envelope.
As an investment, Lockheed Martin has provided 22 years of continuous dividend growth.
And last Friday, Lockheed Martin Corporation declared its next quarterly dividend, a $3.30/share distribution that is in-line with the previous payout.
Ex-dividend date: 6/2/2025
Payout date: 6/27/2025
Forward starting dividend yield: 2.79%
