Christmas came early for utility investors as two separate utility firms are both hiking their quarterly dividend payments. Long-term investors are getting a nice stocking stuffer too, since The Bank of Nova Scotia — a stock that has paid dividends every year since 1833 — is also declaring its latest distribution.
Let’s start with the biggest dividend raise first…
DTE Energy Company ($DTE) Raises Dividend By 6.9%
DTE Energy Company is a Detroit-based utility firm that provides electricity and natural gas to millions of customers.
The company sells electricity to 2.3 million residential, commercial, and industrial clients. And DTE’s natural gas division serves approximately 1.3 million customers.
DTE Energy Company was founded in 1849, and the company has paid dividends every year for over 100 years. Yesterday, the firm announced its latest dividend raise, a 6.9% increase.
DTE Energy Company will now pay a $1.165/share quarterly dividend.
Ex-dividend date: 12/15/25
Payout date: 1/15/26
Forward starting dividend yield: 3.54%
TXNM Energy, Inc. ($TXNM) Raises Dividend By 3.7%
Albuquerque? That’s where Breaking Bad takes place. It’s also home to TXNM Energy, Inc..
Tracing its roots all the way back to 1917, TXNM Energy is a regulated utility firm that provides electricity to more than 800,000 homes and businesses across Texas and New Mexico.
This company is in the process of being acquired by Blackstone Inc. but still decided to raise its dividend. Impressive commitment to the shareholders!
Yesterday, TXNM Energy announced a 3.7% dividend increase.
TXNM Energy, Inc. will now pay a $0.4225/share quarterly dividend.
Ex-dividend date: 1/30/26
Payout date: 2/13/26
Forward starting dividend yield: 2.91%
The Bank of Nova Scotia ($BNS) Declares CAD $1.10 Dividend
A Canadian bank with a big presence in Latin America and the Caribbean, The Bank of Nova Scotia has consistently paid dividends every year since 1833.
This bank provides a number of services from offering checking accounts and operating ATMs, to wealth management and private equity. The Bank of Nova Scotia is also one of the largest banks in North America by assets, holding approximately $1.5 trillion.
Yesterday, the bank announced its 626th dividend.
The Bank of Nova Scotia will pay a CAD $1.10/share quarterly dividend, in-line with previous distribution.
Ex-dividend date: 1/6/26
Payout date: 1/28/26
Forward starting dividend yield: 4.57%
